Sandusky, Ohio, USA
America's roller-coaster capital — 17 coasters on a Lake Erie peninsula.
America's roller-coaster capital. 17 coasters on a Lake Erie peninsula in Ohio — for adult thrill-seekers and teen coaster enthusiasts there's nowhere quite like it. UK visitors should plan 2 days at the park plus a stay at the on-site Hotel Breakers; combine with Niagara Falls or Chicago for a wider trip.

Park guide
Everything you need to make the day work.
What to expect
Coasters, coasters, coasters — Steel Vengeance, Millennium Force, Maverick, Top Thrill 2. The water park (Cedar Point Shores) is decent but not the reason to come. Theming is functional rather than immersive — this is an old-school amusement park, not a Disney-style resort.
Plan your day
Rope-drop Steel Vengeance from Hotel Breakers' beach gate. Hit Maverick second. Save the front of the park (Raptor, Gatekeeper, Magnum) for the afternoon walk-back to the front entrance.
Tickets & passes
Fast Lane Plus is worth it on Saturdays only — weekday queues are short enough that you'll struggle to make it pay back. Cedar Fair Platinum Passes get you free parking + admission to every Cedar Fair park (worth it if you're doing a US coaster tour).
Plan your day
Pick an age group and your must-do rides — we'll suggest a 1-day plan.

- Passports valid 6+ months and any required visa / ESTA / ETIAS authorisation
- Fee-free travel card (Chase, Starling or similar) for low FX fees on tickets and food
- Refillable water bottle — most parks have free refill stations
- Suncream, UV lip balm and a small fold-up rain poncho for water rides

Insider tips
Things you'd only know on a second visit.
- 1
Beach gate from Hotel Breakers cuts a 20-minute walk vs the main entrance — and gets you to Steel Vengeance first.
- 2
Top Thrill 2 single-rider line is the fastest queue on the peninsula.
- 3
October weekends are stunning (autumn colours) but cold — bring a fleece for evening rides.
